The time has come and I will be leaving TOMORROW for Sierra Leone!!! Cue the last minute packing frenzy....apparently I will never learn to pack in advance. Stay tuned for trip updates!!
What am I most excited for on this trip? Hands down its to spend time with the incredible Child Rescue Centre kids. I am especially excited to meet the six new children who are now part of this unique family. They were all rescued from situations that were considered child labor. It is a huge problem in Sierra Leone as desperate families take their children out of school to help make a living.
My two months in Sierra Leone will definitely be challenging but I am looking forward to the experience and gaining a deeper understanding of the country.

Life Updates!!
So obviously my blog has been extremely quiet for the past few months. I have been back in the States finishing up University, so I guess I felt as though there was nothing too significant to share. However that is all changing because I have TWO exciting adventures coming up soon!
In three weeks I will be leaving for my third trip to Sierra Leone! The trip will be for two months and I am so thrilled by the opportunity to spend more time with the Child Rescue Centre kids. I am also going to be working at Mercy Hospital on nutrition programs while doing home visits to monitor the Foster Care children. Of course, things don't always go as planned, and I have a feeling that my tasks will shift around a lot by the time I get there!
I get back at the end of April and then on June 11th I am leaving for the PEACE CORPS!! I just found out two days ago that I received an invitation to serve in Rwanda as a Community Health Agent. It is an assignment that is done mostly at the grassroots level. The major focuses are on HIV/AIDS, maternity health, and sanitation. I am SO EXCITED!!! I first applied to the Peace Corps in January 2012, so it has been a long process. My patience was definitely tested but it was so worth it. So many emotions are running through me ranging from excited, to nervous, to terrified, to ecstatic. Part of me wishes I was leaving sooner so I could just get there, lose the anxiety, and get started. But I know it will be here sooner than I realize and I need to just enjoy the moments I have with friends and family before I leave. Did I mention I will be gone for 27 months?!?! Talk about a big commitment. Wow. That still has not sunk in quite yet.
Life is such an amazing thing. I am so lucky and blessed to be given such great opportunities. I truly believe I have the best people in my life and I can't wait to start this next adventure. To think about how incredibly different everything will be in just a few short months is mind blowing. Eeeeeekkk!!
